NY’s steak family explores their southern roots and we don’t blame them!
I certainly wouldn’t mind having smoked meat with every steak meal! Well, at Morgan’s that’s exactly what you get. BK and NYC has welcomed them with open arms, and more.
I have a love and hate relationship with NYC barbecue, especially the ‘lack of’, here in NYC until the last year. However, when Penny invited me to come experience Morgan’s on a Wednesday afternoon, my expectations for the future of NYC barbecue changed, significantly.
I was floated between the outdoor corral, the bourbon driven whiskey bar, and the hay floored wood paneled walls of the back dining area. The different vibes were addicting.
Shortly after the food started pumping out of the kitchen, the Mac and cheese in skillet came out first. Second, brisket. Third, the Holy Trinity – a combination of pork shoulder (pulled pork), sausage, and ribs. Fourth, a NY Strip, that was smoked! Don’t tell me this town don’t have no heart! Everything was perfectly paired with the right rubs, house made sauces, pickled sides, and cocktails. I have never had a smoked NY Strip, but let me tell you – it works!
Anyway, we tried a ton of other stuff, photos attached. Enjoy!
