Who we are
Garuka Bars® is named after one of the few remaining mountain gorillas ranging the volcanic forests of the Virunga Massif in Rwanda. Garuka needs protection and you need all-natural energy. We’re working on both. Our bars are packed full of simple, wholesome ingredients, and a percentage of each sale goes towards gorilla conservation.
Garuka [gah-roo-ka] and others like him have suffered from the crossfire of human conflict, poaching, and the stresses of encroaching human activity. Today, their future looks bleak. As a company, we’d like to restore their chance at a better future, and what better inspiration than the meaning of Garuka’s full name, which is roughly translated from Kinyarwanda as “Return Well”. So, when you choose to pick up a Garuka Bar® to return your energy, you’re also supporting a cause to return well the future of the mountain gorilla.

What we do
Garuka Bars make their bars by hand each and every week, using delicious, wholesome ingredients like raw honey, whole peanuts, dried cranberries, and brown rice crisps. The result is a bar that is actually enjoyable to eat, and still gives you the energy you need to see your adventure through.
If you take a peek through our clear, recyclable packaging, you’ll notice something a little different — You can literally see what our bar is made of! Since we mix and press our bars by hand, you’ll easily be able to pick out what’s in each bite. This also means that for a bar that packs some energy (and 6g of protein), it’s delightfully light and chewy!
